WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

K-12 Individual Students or a Team (3-5) of Students  in Ohio

WHERE DO I GO TO ENTER THE CONTEST?

Utilize our submission website and create an account. Then, subscribe to the Why Money Matters channel by clicking on "subscribe".

WHAT DO I NEED TO SUBMIT?

To enter this contest you’ll need to submit a 60-second video tell us about a financial topic and explain why it’s important in life.

WHAT TYPE OF FILES CAN I SUBMIT?

We will accept any type of video file, for more help visit the support center. 

WHAT ARE THE PRIZES?

Students:

  • Winner: $1,000 Savings Bond or $500 Cash Grand Prize (winner;s choice)
  • Semi-finalists: $100 Prize, recognition at the Economics Center Financial Education Conference and two tickets to an entertainment event.

All Participants will entered in a Sweepstakes for a chance to win $200 cash prize.

Teachers:

  • Chance to win $250 for offering to promote this program to your students.
  • Plus, an additional $1000 savings bond or $500 cash if you make this a class project and one of your students win!

WHEN CAN I SUBMIT? WHAT IS THE DEADLINE?

You may enter beginning on Novemeber 30, 2009. Entries will be accepted until 12:00 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) on March 15, 2010. Voting begins on March 19, 2010. 

HOW ARE THE WINNERS CHOSEN?

Entrants’ scores in the Initial Voting and Judging Phases will be combined to identify (3) Semi-Finalists. The winner will be chosen at the Economics Center's Annual Event.

Judging Phase: During the Judging Phase, 60% will be determined by a panel of judges designated by the Why Money Matters executive team. The judges will select and score, at their own discretion, the submitted videos based on the following criteria: 33% clarity of message, 34% knowledge of financial topics, and 33% creativity. The other 40% of voting will take place at our Why Money Matters annual event on April 22, 2010. Here the audience will receive electronic clickers and will vote on the winner.

WHEN WILL THE SEMI-FINALISTS BE ANNOUNCED?

The winners will be announced on March 29, 2010.

HOW MANY VIDEOS CAN I SUBMIT?

You can submit as many entries as you like. Just remember to register your video on the Why Money Matters website.

WHAT IF I DON'T SEE MY SUBMISSION ON THE SITE?

If you don’t see your submission on the site, please let us know by filling out the contact us form on our website.
