Lessons & Curriculum

There are thousands of books and other resources available to purchase or free on the topic of personal finance. However, just choosing the right resource is not the key to creating a successful course. It is critical that you understand and teach the content that is relevant to your students, and that you do this in a context that they appreciate.

A diverse team of industry professionals (accountants, financial planners, insurance professionals, and teachers) created the following models by using research conducted over an 18th month period.

All lessons contained within Why Money Matters are accessed through two recommended curriculum models and pacing guides:

 - Recommended course of instruction for a full semester of teaching personal finance.
 - Recommended course of instruction for a six-week integration of personal finance topics into an existing course.

What do students need to know in order to be successful in the 21st Century?

Within each of these models, you will find recommended topics and lessons created by a team of industry professionals (accountants, financial planners, insurance professionals, teachers, etc).
